The author was correct when he said the title could be jarring. Frankly I have to plead guilty as charged having never considered Muhammad in terms of Hitler or Stalin. And, again, if one looks at Islam in the same way as Communism things do become a bit clearer.
Fascinating read! I had never considered the correlation of these influential historical figures. The author does a great job of exposing the web of similarities. I highly recommend for any student of religion, world politics, absolute power and the connections between them all.
I enjoyed this book and found it to be an easy read. The chapter on the Koran is a bit tricky to follow but the nonsensical confusion appears to be the problem with the Koran and not the explanation. It is amazing that such a strangely laid out book could have so much historical influence. One would think that the minimum bar to get over for a book would be that you should be able to understand it. I guess not.
I have read Ali Sina’s Psychology of Muhammad, comparing Mo with Stalin and Hitler. I hope your book is not a repetition of Sina’s. Tanx. Would love to buy it but what if it makes me depressed?
Anon, I won’t be able to help you with the depression part as reading about these guys is the very essence of depression. I’m not sure if Mr. Sina actually mentions Hitler or Stalin in his excellent book however I do refer to his book pertaining to certain aspects of Muhammad. I believe you will find my book very different from “Understanding Muhammad” while not dismissing Mr. Sina’s work at all……C”H”Martel
I particularly enjoyed the chapter “Which is worse” and found it entertaining to do my own rating of these three tyrants. I think this chapter could be used as an excellent ‘teacher’s guide’ whereby a class could be divided in thirds, each assigned their subject personality, research their subject and then the class could debate their findings. That could be both educational and enjoyable. Of course any teacher desirous of distributing the truth about Muhammad would be drawn and quartered. Indeed, he or she may well get in trouble speaking truthfully of Stalin! I liked this book.
Excellent! For years people have been hinting about Islam and Nazism/Communism. Using the names of Hitler and Stalin really brings the reality home. No beating around the bush! Great contribution and informative too.
Exciting, informative and dramatic insight into a culture we rarely invade. Having traveled to that part of the world many years ago and having my eldest daughter live there for 8 long years it scares the hell out of my recall. Well written easy informative read.

We must identify the enemy, believe the enemy’s threats and undertsand what lies behind the ideology of an enemy hell-bent on destroying anyone who will not submit. We must identify the enemy, prepare to fight him, unify and educate the world. This book reveals the similarities of deception, control and pure evil. An easy read with many revelations!

Ronald, most Muslims do not know or understand Arabic, the language of the Koran. I listened to Gracelia Burnham talk about her captivity by the Abu Sayf in the Philippines. Her Islamic minder was chanting a verse from the Koran and told her that it was his favorite verse. She asked him what it said. He replied that he had no idea but it sounded really pretty.
Islam only understands what their imams tell them. Their worldview comes from their leaders and what a horrible trip it really is
I have been studying Islam for a year(I am a retired Catholic priest). God, and I mean God, help us all. The Koran and Islam give all the details of your way of life. That way of life, including Sharia Law, are eternal. In other words Islam is locked into the Seventh Century; it is “frozen” in time. The Catholic Church’s Teachings, on the contrary, are fixed…but many of our “rules” change, for example, in Canada we can now eat meat on Fridays! Christ did not lay down a “manual for living” in all its detail, because He didn’t have the time to do so according to Islam. Mohammed did so in the Koran. Christ gave to humanity Faith, Hope and Love. These virtues imply actions toward God and our neighbour. No rules about washing pots and pans or diet and such. Christianity leaves such details to the Church; the rules(details) must change from time to time by their very nature. The Ten Commandments cannot be rescinded because they are rooted in and essential to our humanity. “Disciplinary Laws” as Catholics call them, are made according to the needs of Catholics at a given time in history. They must change; not so, our human nature and our human rights. So, Mohammed is not the “Last Prophet”. This so-called “Last Prophet” has “paralized” a whole “religion” and its adherents into stagnation and, worse, into a twisted, inhuman culture. The test of a true religion: “Grace(God) does not destroy nature but perfect it,” (St. Thomas Aquinas, Thirteenth Century A.D.). To quote an iconic song, “When will they ever learn…?” or Isaiah chapter 58, verse 6, “Let the oppressed go free.”, meaning of course the people of Islam. President Kennedy quoted this verse from the prophet Isaiah in his “Inaugural Address”. Communism & Islam indeed are to be compared, not contrasted. Did Kennedy have only Communism on his mind in that memorable Inaugural Address back on January 20th of 1961? Winston Churchill had already written that slavery would not disappear from the planet until Islam was no longer a force in the world. C.S. Lewis described Islam as “the religion of outrage”. ‘nough said!

We all know about Hitler (thanks to Hollywood), fewer know about Stalin (again, thanks to Hollywood) and the world remains ignorant of the possibly mythological figure of Muhammad (don’t look for any help from Hollywood here). This must-read book has a simple premise – compare the lives of the three most evil people in history. Why did it take so long for this idea to be put in print? Probably because most people consider Muhammad a religious “prophet,” and they wouldn’t think of juxtaposing his life that those of two 20th Century tyrants. But Islam is, at the core, a political ideology, just like Nazism and Communism, with a goal of world domination. The main reason Islam has endured is that its promised pay-off for followers is in the unverifiable afterlife, whereas the other ideologies promised near-term successes which failed to materialize.
The similarities of these three historical figures are amazing. They were all narcissist tyrants who had the accidental good fortune of impeccable timing. They were the ‘strong horses’ of their day, and people fell into step by the millions. But they all had fatal character flaws – Hitler over-reached, Stalin was a clumsy strategist, and Muhammad‘s revelations from on high are contradictory and indefensible.
Author Martel assembles an amazing collection of facts, anecdotes, and insights in this 187 page book. It is hard to put down because it traces the short careers of these men through some of the most calamitous times in history. While Hitler and Nazism were responsible for about 60 million deaths, and Stalin and Communism about 80 million, Islam’s legacy (albeit over a longer time-span) approaches 300 million lives. Only malaria and influenza have killed more people than Islam.
Martel believes that ultimately Islam will be subdued – not by force of arms, but rather by the truth. “The only sane way to defeat Islam is to attack the ideology with the truth such [as] has been done in this book.”
